Season VII Over and out.
10 July 2004
Well...hasn't this been an eventful past 10 weeks!
Thats right folks, incase you didn't already realise it, 10 weeks have pasted since we opened the doors for the start of Season VII.
I know it hasn't worked well for a few people, i know there have been problems and glitchs - but hey we wouldnt want it any other way :P

Anyway, if you are not aware we have some clear winners from each division, who we will contact in due course regarding some prizes and promotional information.

But heres a run down of how it looks:

Premiership
WINNERS: trigger happy killerz
RUNNERSUP: meatyballs

Division One
WINNERS: In The Zone!
RUNNERSUP: International Espionage Organisation

Division Two
WINNERS: AlerT
RUNNERSUP: New Order, The

Division Three
WINNERS: #alias.cs
RUNNERSUP: INflickTiOn

Wildcard Division
WINNERS: InControl
RUNNERSUP: Clan Luck

For a complete run down of how the tables spanned out, check out: http://ecsl.far2cool.com/leaguetable.aspx
If clans wish to continue into next season, when we open signups *hopefully* for Season VIII - clans who came 1st and 2nd respectivily will be granted promotion to a higher division, and in the case of the Premiership, these clans will be allowed to rejoin the Premiership Division by default.

Well played all those that did manage to have some good matchs, but i must apologies for the larger than expected drop out of clans within the first few weeks. We know that a lot of you do like playing offical matches, but we had no idea that the dropout rate would be this high. Rest assured that these clans will not be allowed to enter into another ESCL Season. ever.

To rap up, well played all those who managed to get some great games in this Season, and congradulations to the Winners and Runners-up. We look forward to seeing you in the next season. Many thanks to other clans that put up a good fight but didnt quite make it, and a special thanks to my partner in crime: Blackdog (even if he did just sit there and look pretty for nearly 10weeks ;P )

Good game people!
Until next season!

Dropped/Folded Clans II
08 June 2004
Just thought I would do a little follow-up post to Shorts.

Basically every clan that started the season, confirmed the week before that they intended to play and complete the season. But we still had clans dropping in the first week. Now I accept that clans come and go (the life expectancy seems to be about 6 months) but those teams and the ones that dropped since took a place in the season from a team that may have competed well and enjoyed the full season.

ECSL has supplied all the servers, HLTV, a great website/forum and active admins.....all clans had to do was turn up and play. But the list below shows that this obviously isnt enough for some people.

Like Short said, we are a new admin team and still in a "learning stage". There are certainly some things that we will change for next season but all in all I think the ECSL side of the season has held up well, its just a shame that so many teams have to turn up for matches to find the opposition is a no-show and hopefully the "dropped" list will help teams avoid this and enjoy the remainder of Season 7

Dropped/Folded Clans
08 June 2004
Well then, we are in week 6, and i do honestly feel that all has gone as good as expected, if not better in places :)
However, because this season is under new management, it hasn't all been smooth sailing, but we are trying.

As some of you will have probably noticed, there has been a number of no shows by clans. I can understand that this is frustrating, because you got to organise a team, practice, turn up on time etc only to find that they dont bother showing up.

Please find below a list i compiled this morning of clans we DEFINATELY know have folded from this Season.
I will keep the page updated if anyone else has to drop from the league. So watch this space!

PREMIERSHIP

Team-eScape! - eSc
Synergy Online - Synergy
reSonance - reS

DIVISION ONE

Load Aim Fire - LAF
Creation - Hem |
Shady Godz - shadygodz|
N22 - N22 ** UPDATE**

WILDCARD
tsuka - bmf
arise online - arise
Team Storm - Storm
Stimulated - [s. ] ** UPDATE**

So what does this mean to you?
It means for matchs that you are scheduled to play versus any of the above opposition won't take place. You can come to either myself (Short) or Blackdog in #ecsl and ask us to confirm a default win for that match. However we wont do this until the day of your scheduled game. This is so we don't get to far ahead of ourselves, that might cause problems down the line. If you have already confirmed a default win against any of the above, dont worry.

On to other news, we did say that we would be taking in new clans to replace the ones that folded or dropped. Well as you can see there has been a lot more than expected, and personal time constraints (i.e. my 2nd Year Uni exams) have forced us to unfortunately halt the process of adding new clans and replacing them at this stage. Mainly because we feel it is now too late to add clans (what with it being in Week6 and all.) We however endure to find some "decent" clans that won't die within the first 2 weeks of the next season starting :)

Hope this explains some of the goings-on at #ecsl and that we haven't just been sitting around doing nothing all day (Blackdog gets paided to do that at work! :P )

Any queries, contact any of the ECSL team in #ecsl or email me:

N.B. If your clan has been mistakenly added to the list above contact me immediately! Same goes for any clans that i may have forgotten to include, that you know of :)

Week 5 - Inferno skybox flashing
02 June 2004
With de_Inferno comes the problem of skybox flashing. This is clearly pointed out in the ECSL rules .. " Exploits: Clans may not throw grenades over the wall into or out of either of the bomb sites. They cannot boost players into the balcony near T spawn. "

ECSL Admin has been asked to review some of this weeks games to judge on this and some match results may be edited to reflect the use of skybox flashes. Individual teams will be contacted and told about it if it effects them. I know this will upset people but the Admin team have decided that this rule will be strictly enforced during the season.

So .. you have been warned. HLTV's will be checked after any complaint about the exploit, so hopefully teams wont do it

Ciao

ECSL games will soon be shoutcasted!
17 May 2004
Behind the scenes e-FRAG has been planning a new online gaming radio station to broadcast cup matches for games spanning all genres. They have slowly built up backing from sites such as ECSL and TWRGaming. With this they will bring all the communities together and produce a new radio second to none. You may say this has been done before, but with prizes ranging from TS2, Ventrilo and game servers daily you cannot really say no can you?

The radio will broadcast cup and large league games so the ECSL community can listen in on the latest matches!

e-FRAG have now teamed up with #uk.radio for the added extra of top quality DJ's and superb management. The system is not built around the usual low quality eggdrop, but using perl and using vbulletin as a back end. The system looks perfectly balanced so check them out at #uk.radio

Launch date is set for 23rd May 2004 so get over and give some support!

RCON Control
16 May 2004
Due to the shortage of refs around peak times, i.e. 8pm and 9pm, and up coming exams for some people, we have decided that its in the best interests of keeping the league running into the later weeks, that we hand out the rcon password for the server so that the clans can manage it themselves.

Now, the rcon password will change weekly, and i have a bad habit of watching the servers remotely for any kind of cfg change :)

Clans need to come to #ecsl and request the rcon password for their server they are playing on. We will ONLY hand out the password to one member and no more. If we find out that in anyway you have abused or mistreated the rcon priviledge in anyway, then its quite simple... we will ban you from playing for a duration of no less than 4 weeks. Its quite simple - just dont mess around with the rcon :)

You may still request a ref to watch your games, HLTV will still be running as record only to watch for any disputes if they arise. The demos will be made available soon, i can't give an ETA of any kind at this stage im afraid. We are finalising the re-scheduling of our replacment clans as we speak. So they should be in the league ASAP - if all goes well.

Any further problems or something you don't understand...give me (Short) or Blackdog a shout in #ecsl

Thanks. Roll on Week 3 :)

Season VII Week 2 news
11 May 2004
Lo all

Thought I'd do a quick update on whats happening with the season.

The first week saw the normal amount of no-show/folding clans. I know teams have turned up to empty servers , but half the time the first we know that a clan has withdrawn is when our ref reports a no-show. We do try and let teams know that their match isn't going to happen. I just find it amazing that teams confirm they want to play (which every one did) and then pull out once its started. Ah well , it will be noted for future seasons.

To balance the withdrawn teams , we will be adding the reserve teams this week and re-scheduling the missed matches. This will probably take place in Week 11 (although clans are still free to re-schedule matches to suit there timings, just let us know in #ecsl-admin)

Also we will be looking at active refs. We had alot of people saying they would like to join ECSL as a ref but inreality the numbers are far fewer than expected re : Shorts previous news post... so if you find your server admin doesnt work, talk to Short or me.

Hopefully by the start of week 3 all the Divisions will be full again and the season will run smoothly ;)

ECSL Season VII +1
04 May 2004
In case you hadnt noticed, ECSL Season VII started yesterday, and will continue for the next 10 weeks :)

There were, and resolved, a few teethin problems as we expected, but on a whole we were very pleased with the turn out and co-ordination between the staff, refs and players.

Ive noticed a few out standing results that need to be confirmed a.s.a.p please - go to the "Clan Match Results" page in your clan portal, alternatively click here. If your having problems uploading screenshots or such like, its probably because the result hasnt been confirmed yet, so once it is done, feel free to upload your screenshots :)

The league tables should update automatically, but if they dont appear to be doing so, just give it a while and come back later and you should see your results here!

To clear any queries about re-scheduling matches, if you have a conflict with our league and another league/match etc then you must contact the other clan ATLEAST 24hours before your scheduled to play. You must also inform an ECSL representative that you have a conflict. Once you have done that you can either 1. replay the game later on in the season (probably week #11) or 2. play the game on a neutral clan server that you both agree on (usually a private clan server) and all we ask is that you record demos and use the ECSL match.cfg for the server. You may request a referee if you so wish to ensure fairness - but we will ask for rcon for that server if you do so. Any other queries please direct them to myself, or any of the staff in #ecsl

Anyway, hope those that played enjoyed their first of many games with us.
Looking forward to seeing some more top quality gaming :)

P.S. Show your support and idle in #ecsl ;D

Roll up! Roll up!
03 May 2004
Roll up! Roll up!

As many of you are aware, ECSL Season VII is due to start tonight at 7pm SHARP will the servers in full swing everything should run smooth as pie. :)

We request that anyone wanting to get any information, ask a question, or point something out, please come to #ecsl.
Please could at least 1 representative from each clan come and idle in #ecsl before the start of the match to make sure everything is ok and your good too play!

The passwords for the servers are ecsl to join the server, and ecslmatch once the game is under way.

HLTV can be run from your own server aslong as you have the ECSL HLTV config running - we will ask and want to see proof of this if any disputes arise. The config for HLTV can be found here.

Because of the number of clans playing this season, the starting times for each match are very very tight. Could all clans PLEASE be on the server for when it starts.
We aim to start the games within the first 5mins of your time slot, if the full team isnt there by 10 mins past, regardless the referee will start the game. Please remember that all server time slots are in GMT

On another note, if your server doesnt appear to have a ref or a representive from ECSL, then jump onto #ecsl-admin and give us a shout. All things being good, we should have plenty of people to cover every time slot and server. :)

Please be patient if things dont appear to be going too well. We are running a brand new team for this Season, and like most things the first few weeks we try to iron out any teething problems, so please bear with us if things dont appear to be 100% perfect. Any major issues or server failures (lets pray there isnt!) will of course be rescheduled for later on into the season, at a time that is acceptable and convenient to both teams.

If you fancy being a ref, or want to help out. Contact me on #ecsl, #ecsl-admin or #ecsl-ref and we'll get you sorted in no time.

Right thats the end of my rant hopefully :)

Any other queries grab me on #ecsl

Look forward to seeing you all soon.

ECSL Season VII Schedules Up!
30 April 2004
The match schedules for the next 10 weeks have now been generated and are now accessible on a clan-specific level to CLs/DLs in your clan control panel or visible in public format here.

Please take note that all match times are not set in stone, your clan should make every effort to make a specific match time - in order to have the full use of one of our dedicated ECSL servers and the full attention of an ECSL referee. But if your team really cannot make a match time you may attempt to reschedule your match, it is possible to swap match slots with another pair of teams - I would advise on using the ECSL main forum for this purpose.

Remember its essential to have an ECSL referee (an impartial mediator) present during the majority of the game - failure to do this will cause problems and may even make your match void :/

Please take any questions to the ECSL admin forum or take them to the #ecsl-admin IRC channel on QuakeNet.
