| Alternatives to a web based CMS? |
Hi there!
I know its a long shot finding someone active here but ill try anyway.
I had plans of building an asp.net/sql driven CMS for tracking various information that we use every day at work. I compiled a document with all the relevant information about what the system would do, why it was needed and the hardware requirements for it. Got approval from my manager and our UK IT admin and the proposal was shot down by the US IT admin, which unfortunately is quite high up in the chain of command already so to take it any further than that will take a lot of work and the whole process will need to be fully documented. Which to be honest is a lot more trouble than it is worth.
I really do want to implement a system as it will make my daily work so much easier.
So my question is this, is there any way you could recommend to build such as system that doesn't require a web server?
I am looking at interfacing with an access database that would sit on a shared drive with VB.NET but tbh i'm not thrilled with the idea as i dont like windows GUI apps. I much prefer the customisation of a web app.
Any thoughts? |
